The AED Supplement is designed to teach the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) when responding to a person experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. Sudden cardiac arrest is one of the leading causes of death in occupational settings. A defibrillator is the only definitive treatment. AEDs are used prior to the arrival of EMS and are an integral component of the "Chain of Survival". The first few minutes of care are critical for someone who is experiencing sudden cardiac arrest.
This course is designed to meet the national medical guidelines for AED use and is designed to meet national and state requirements for AED training. This course can be used to supplement MEDIC FIRST AID programs or any nationally recognized first aid/CPR or CPR-only course.
